Some days, showing up feels easy. Other days, it feels nearly impossible.
Life has a way of knocking the wind out of us—through loss, disappointment, unexpected change, or simply the quiet weight of responsibilities that never seem to let up. On those days, staying in bed and pulling the covers over your head can feel like the only thing you want to do.
And honestly? We’ve all had those days.
But I’ve learned something simple and powerful over the years:
We just have to show up.
And sometimes, showing up begins with a decision—and a count.
When the alarm goes off… or you sneak a peek at the clock and feel tempted to hit the snooze button… or think, just two more five minutes—pause.
Then count out loud: One… two… three… four… five.
On five, throw the covers back and put your feet on the floor.!
It sounds almost too simple, but getting out of bed—especially when you don’t feel like it—is often the first win. Choosing to face the day instead of hiding from it is an act of quiet courage.
It may feel small, but that moment matters. Because sometimes the biggest victory of the day is simply choosing to begin.
Dress Up
You don’t have to look perfect. Not even close. But there’s something about being confidently neat and ready to greet the day that shifts your mindset. It says, I’m here. I’m participating. I’m moving forward. (Tip for ladies from Mary Kay Ash: “Everything’s better with lipstick!”)
Show Up
This is where transformation begins. Showing up—at work, in relationships, in responsibilities, and even in your own healing—creates movement. It opens doors. It invites connection. It reminds you that you are still part of the world around you.
We often think big change requires big effort. But more often than not, it begins with simple faithfulness in small steps.
Get up.
Dress up.
Show up.
And trust that each small act of showing up matters more than you realize.
God meets us there—in the ordinary moments, in the quiet steps forward, in the willingness to keep going when it would be easier to give up.
So today, if all you can do is take that first step, let it be enough. Because taking that step to show up is powerful.
And it just might be the beginning of something new.
I’ll be with you on the journey.
