Anchored In What Doesn’t Change

What if the thing you’re trying hardest to control… was never yours to hold?

Anchored In What Doesn’t Change
As a former military wife, I learned something the hard way: control isn’t something we actually
have—it’s something we think we have… until life proves otherwise.

Moves came. Orders changed. Deployments stretched. Just when life felt settled, everything
shifted again.

From the outside, it looked like adventure. On the inside, it often felt unsteady. And if I’m
honest, in those seasons, I didn’t drift toward God—I drifted toward control.

I tried to manage what I couldn’t. I held tightly to plans that wouldn’t hold. I focused on what
was changing instead of the One who never does.

Maybe you’ve been there too.

When life gets hard, we don’t naturally trust—we tighten our grip. We anchor ourselves to things
that shift… and then feel shaken when they do.

But there is another way—a better way.

When I loosened my grip and chose to trust God, everything didn’t suddenly become easy—but
it became steady.

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” — Hebrews 6:19

So here’s a gentle question:
What is anchoring your life right now?
And what happens when that anchor doesn’t hold?

If your answer feels uncertain, you’re not alone.

But you can choose an anchor that will hold—no matter what shifts around you. Trust in the One
who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

With you on the journey,
—Penny
