The Secret’s in The Sauce

  1. Ingredients:
    1 Tablespoon olive oil
    1 medium yellow onion
    5 cloves of garlic
    2 cans (6 oz.) tomato paste & 5 cans of water (or two tubes of tomato paste if no cans available
    and 4 cups of water)
    1 can (24 oz) plain tomato sauce (Del Monte if available)
    1 Tablespoon Italian Seasoning (McCormick if available)
    Dont have any? Make some. Crush to powder with the back of a spoon;
    * 3 Tablespoons each dried basil, oregano, and parsley flakes
    * 1 teaspoon each dried thyme, rosemary and sage.
    * 1 Tablespoon garlic powder
    * ¼ teaspoon black pepper
    Store in an airtight container for up to 6 months.

1 pound lean hamburger— do NOT brown & drain!
Salt & Pepper to taste
2 Tablespoons parmesan cheese

Preparation:
Chop onion and garlic.
In a medium size, heavy pot that has a lid, sauté the onion & garlic in the Tablespoon of olive oil until soft & fragrant.

Add other ingredients, pinching off bits of RAW HAMBURGER as you add it to the sauce.
Sprinkle parmesan cheese over the top of the sauce, cover and slowly cook on low heat for 3
hours (stir occasionally and add more water if necessary).

Serve over cooked, just until tender, spaghetti (vermicelli if available) with a side green salad.
