This week I had the great joy of being a very small part of a very big give to my community by the autonomous mission work of Salkehatchie Summer Service 2018. https://salkehatchie.org/
The sea of lime green you see my dear friend, Linda Clancy (a hands-on worker) and me standing in, is but a portion of the volunteers who spent one week in Edgefield County, SC performing home repairs. In blistering heat, they worked on projects as small as building a ramp to as large as remodeling an entire kitchen. These young people put on new roofs, replaced porches, toilets and broken windows. They worked together problem solving and learning from one another as they physically helped families-in-need bounce back from set-backs and overcome the challenges of unwanted change.
Look closely- choose to see the good – and be encouraged by seeing the good in others.
“…whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things and the God of peace will be with you” (Philippians 4:8)
